ACVS Foundation
Honored Mentor

Philipp D. Mayhew

BVMS, MRCVS, DACVS (Small Animal)

Phil has supported me unconditionally through my residency as well as my time as a junior faculty member at UC Davis. Most significantly, he served as the primary mentor for the completion of my ACVS MIS fellowship (small animal, soft tissue). His passion for minimally invasive surgery is infectious and Phil serves as a role model in mentorship of residents, client communications, collaboration with research studies, and work-life balance.

- Ingrid Margaret Balsa, MEd, DVM, DACVS (Small Animal)

It has been one of the great pleasures of my life to watch the metamorphosis of surgical residents from the inception of their residency to emerging at the end as professionally competent and accomplished surgeons and researchers. Along the way I have always been hugely grateful to all of the residents that I have taught for keeping the workplace fun, interesting and stimulating and I believe that they have taught me just as much as I have taught them over the years. For that, I am always grateful.
