There are few words that can adequately convey how integral Dr. Mueller was to my training and so many others. He taught me so much more than surgery. He is and has always been an invaluable friend and mentor.

I was only a direct trainee of Dr. Mueller for the early part of my education (student and internship). Despite the fact that the majority of my surgical training occurred elsewhere, Dr. Mueller was ALWAYS there for me. I've reached out to him countless times when I was faced with big career decisions. He was always available to provide sound advice and guide me through my career and continues to do so to this day. I will always be grateful for his role and willingness to serve as a mentor to me.

I am honored and humbled by those individuals that supported my nomination as an Honored Mentor. I was fortunate to have many wonderful mentors and role models throughout my career and tried to pass on my learned knowledge and professional and personal experiences to those residents, interns, and students that I was fortunate to work with. I have learned and continue to learn so much from these individuals and know that they too will become valuable mentors to future generations of surgeons.
