Dr. Gaughan made an impact at the very beginning of my career at Kansas State and later in my career at Virginia Tech. Throughout he has been a wonderful mentor and friend, and I am very grateful for all the support that he has given me over the years.

Dr. Gaughan has easily been the most influential person in my career. From the time I met him at KSU as a senior veterinary student until today, he has continually demonstrated the best human qualities: kindness, graciousness, empathy, integrity, and professionalism. Dr. Earl Gaughan was the first mentor/supervisor I encountered when I started my internship at Kansas State University. Earl quickly became my role model in how to be a great veterinary surgeon and maybe more importantly, a good human. I consider Earl more than just a great mentor; he became a cherished friend. He is so deserving of all recognition for his contribution to the profession.
