Congratulations on starting your new residency!
Below are helpful links to help you get started as a resident.
Create Your Resident Profile
To register yourself with ACVS as a new veterinary surgery resident, complete these steps.
- Go to: http://www.acvs.org/certification/register
- Use the New Customer link to create an account or log in if you have an existing ACVS website account. You will be redirected to the registration page.
- Complete the Starting Your Residency form, including program type and name, veterinary school, and internship. If the veterinary school you attended is not accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), please upload a copy of the Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates (ECFVG) certificate, veterinary license, or other form of verification of legal qualification to practice veterinary medicine if required. (Due within 30 days of residency start.)
- Complete the Statement of Compliance to ACVS Residency Training Standards and Requirements. The program director is notified by email once this step is completed. The Application checklist is created in CERT and notes critical requirements to be completed. (Due within 30 days of residency start.)
- Pay the matriculation fee. The fee can be paid by going to Application, then Matriculation fee. Pay online with Visa, Mastercard, or American Express. (Due within 60 days of residency start.) Note, this fee can also be paid by the program director.
As noted above, these items must be completed no later than 30 days after the start of your residency:
- Creating your profile
- Signing the Statement of Compliance
- The program director signing the Program Director’s Statement.
Your program director will be notified to complete the statement once you fill out the Statement of Compliance. When these steps are completed, you will gain access to the resident training log. The resident training log is the section used to track your training requirements.
The matriculation fee is due within 60 days of starting your residency. The fee can be paid in CERT by either the resident or program director. The program director can pay the fee from the Manage Residents table of the portal.
