As I look back on the last 50 years (!) of my veterinary career, I remain very grateful for Dr Rawlings' mentorship during my residency and graduate studies at the University of Georgia. He demonstrated the qualities of an accomplished veterinary surgeon and dedicated professor challenging us to think critically about our work, to improve our results, and then to share our research as presentations and publications. He also helped us become involved in the ACVS, where he himself served in various roles, including as President. Thank you, Dr. Rawlings, for all you have done for me and for all of your trainees, and for our profession!

It is an honor to be identified as a mentor, and I thank my nominee. Nearly a half century of helping surgeons has produced much pleasure. Procedures and instrumentation constantly improve and the mutual learning makes a career exciting and fun. Teaching the next generation should ensure continuous improvement in surgical care for our patients. Thanks to those who contributed to my education.
