Stephen B. Adams

Dr. Adams is a professor of surgery at Purdue University, College of Veterinary Medicine and has been on staff there for nearly 40 years. He was mentored and trained by Dr. Jack Fessler, who was also an active member of ACVS. He finds training residents, teaching students, and performing surgery to be extremely satisfying. He also likes to travel, run, swim, bike and barefoot water ski (skiing without skis) on his days off. His family includes a wife and 4 daughters.

DVM, MS, DACVS

I have been blessed with a career in a profession that has been extremely rewarding. Mentoring residents has been a major part of that career and has always been a great joy.  It has been fun to assist residents in becoming certified by the ACVS and I have learned a lot from each of them. I am proud of them and glad for the very small part I had in their training. I am greatly honored and humbled by their recognition.

Dr. Adams, with his contagious passion and enthusiasm,  has been an outstanding mentor in equine surgery. Because of his years of experience and his ability to mix the old with the new, learning from him has always been enlightening.  Knowing him has challenged me to become a better surgeon.
