Honored Mentor
Peter Lotsikas
DVM, DACVS (Small Animal)
Dr. Lotsikas takes the time to help and mentor so many people. We are all lucky to have him as a colleague.
- Elizabeth Arthur, DVM, DACVS (Small Animal)
Dr. Lotsikas has a deep intellectual curiosity. A seasoned expert in our field, he doesn’t get stuck in a rut of how to do something and is always open to exploring new and innovative approaches. Peter is a natural mentor and teacher. I’ve gained an immense amount of technical knowledge from Peter, but I also look to him as an example of how to humanely navigate one’s own growth, learning, inevitable errors, and continuous improvement.

Peter taught me not only how to do arthroscopy but also taught me compassion and communication.
- David W. Hummel, DVM, DACVS (Small Animal)
Peter has been an incredible mentor to me since intern year. He helped me develop as a surgeon, teaching techniques in the OR, client communication outside, and coached me through a research project and my first presentation at a national meeting. He continues to be a sounding board over a decade later and has become a great friend. Over my career, I have tried to emulate Peter’s mentorship with my own interns and residents. His impact goes far beyond me – he has shaped the careers of countless veterinarians through his generosity, humor, and unwavering commitment to exceptional patient care and mentorship.
- Nina Kieves, DVM, DACVS (Small Animal), DACVSMR
Dr. Lotsikas mentored me through my internship, residency, and now as a colleague. We have worked together for the better part of the last decade and he is an incredible teacher, mentor, and friend.
