This year, the ACVS Foundation presented the ACVS Student Surgical Proficiency Awards to sixty selected seniors at 31 veterinary schools in the United States and Canada.

Board of Regents approves slate of candidates for proxy voting.
July 14, 2010   Merit Award Nominee Named
The Board has approved the nomination of Dr. Gretchen L. Flo to receive the ACVS Merit Award. Diplomates will vote on whether Dr. Flo will receive the award.

The examination tests knowledge of all phases of surgery as well as competence in areas of specialization.

In June, the Nominating Committee submitted a proposed slate of candidates to the Board of Regents for approval. Information about the approved candidates’ backgrounds and service to ACVS follows.

Election of President-Elect and Regents is completed by proxy voting. ACVS Diplomates will receive a ballot with proxy information via email within the next month. The proxy votes will be cast at a Special Meeting called for October 19, 2010, at 12:00pm, at the Grand Hyatt Seattle Hotel, 721 Pine Street, Seattle, Washington, 98101.

David Anderson, DVM, MS, Dipl. ACVS, has pioneered a cranial cruciate ligament surgery that is giving valuable cows and bulls a second chance after injury. Anderson and colleagues have developed the 'Wildcat Power Cord' (WPC), which is a unique nylon monofilament that replaces the CCL in the stifle.
