ACVS is saddened by the loss of two Emeritus Diplomates — Dr. Jim Creed, who passed on November 8, 2020, and Dr. Jerry Johnson, who passed away on November 9, 2020.

Congratulations to the new ACVS Fellows. ACVS Fellows have exemplary training and experience in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients in their respective fellowship discipline.

ACVS would like to acknowledge Malcolm G. Ness who joined the editorial team of Veterinary Surgery in 2020 as an associate editor, as well as Bernard M. Bouvy, DMV, MS, DECVS whose term has ended.

An email was recently sent informing programs that the ACVS Board of Regents has extended the allowance for diagnostic imaging rotations to be completed via telemedicine through the end of 2020. In giving consideration to the ongoing uncertainty we are facing, and in the interest of allowing programs to better plan and schedule these rotations, the ACVS Board of Regents has further extended the allowance for diagnostic imaging requirement to be completed via telemedicine through June 30, 2021.

The ACVS Board of Regents recently approved clarifications to the Residency Training Standards and Requirements relating to specialty service rotations, as well an update to the eligibility requirements for the Phase I examination. These changes are intended to provide residents and programs with greater flexibility and opportunity.
