In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, I want to provide you with an update on ACVS’s efforts to continue assisting you.
While the national response to COVID-19 is evolving, ACVS has taken the following steps:
ACVS’s staff is working remotely for at least the next several weeks. We anticipate no disruption in our service to diplomates, residents, candidates, and animal owners who contact us with inquiries.
The Phase I Surgical Knowledge Examination scheduled for April 6, 2020, was canceled. Some residency training sites have informed ACVS of reduced operations. The board of regents and the director of certification are examining the effect of reduced training activity on the certification process.
Planning for the 2020 ACVS Surgery Summit in Washington, DC, in October remains in motion. Be assured we will continue to monitor the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak on large conferences.
Given recent recommendations that individuals avoid social gatherings in groups of more than 10 people, ACVS will hold previously scheduled in-person committee meetings and the ACVS Foundation Board of Trustees meeting virtually.
We will continue to communicate with you as necessary in the coming weeks. If you have any questions regarding this announcement, please email email@example.com.
We wish you good health, and we look forward to continuing to serve you.

Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Surgeons
