Oquendo Center

About This Course

The Advanced Spine Surgery Level II is designed for surgeons that are skilled at surgery including laminectomies and ventral slot decompression, and wish to expand their surgical repertoire to more technical procedures and spinal stabilizations.   The skills taught will be biomechanics of spinal stabilization SOP instrumentation, thoracolumbar corpectomy, multilevel fenestration, 10 disk ventral fenestration, stabilization of thoracic fractures with SOP locking spinal plates, cervical stabilization, Atlanto-axial stabilization,  foramenotomy for lumbosacral decompression, and SOP stabilization for lumbosacral instabilties.  There will be five sessions beginning with theory and detailed step by step description of the procedures followed by a demonstration of the procedure by an instructor on a cadaver.  The attendees will then repeat the procedures on cadavers and can repeat the procedures as needed.  Instrumentation will include standard surgical instrumentation, specialized spinal instrumentation, high speed burr, drills, and SOP instrumentation and screws.

Coffee and snacks are provided throughout the day.

Lunch provided on full-day courses.

Dinners to go – We’ve found that at the end of a long course day participants are looking forward to returning to their hotel to relax. We realize that our preferred lodging partner doesn’t have a restaurant on site or located close to the hotel. To help make things easier for you we will provide a hot meal, at the end of each full course day, with to go containers so you can bring it back to the hotel with you. On the last day of the course we will provide something a little easier to transport for those heading to the airport. This will not apply to those courses that end midafternoon – only those that end at noon or 5:00PM.
