The School of Veterinary Science at The University of Queensland invites applications for a clinical-track academic position in Small Animal Internal Medicine (SAIM) to be based at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) Gatton. The VTH is equipped to offer outstanding patient care and work with a patient-focused team work approach.
The SAIM service works closely with surgery, emergency/critical care diagnostic imaging anaesthesia and avian and exotic animal specialists. The SAIM service offers videoendoscopy (gastroduodendoscopy, bronchoscopy, cystoscopy), minimally-invasive procedures (stenting) and continuous blood glucose monitoring and has access to advanced imaging technology including digital radiology, on-site 16-slice CT, off-site high field MRI and to a 24/7 fully staffed Intensive Care Unit with ventilatory support capabilities. The caseload offers a varied exposure to complex and challenging clinical cases to students and clinicians. The successful candidate will work closely with two fellow ACVIM Diplomates to oversee the training of rotating small animal interns and veterinary undergraduates during their clinical rotations.
The person: Applicants should have eligibility for licensure to practice in Queensland. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in clinical small animal medicine and excellent teaching, interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere is essential.
Remuneration: AUD$92,142 - $109,419 p.a. (Level B) or AUD$112,874 - $130,150 p.a. (Level C), plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17%. Full-time continuing appointment at Academic Level B/C depending on qualification and experience.
