ACVS Small Animal Minimally Invasive Surgery Courses - Advanced (FULL)

Laboratory fee: $2,250
Available to ACVS and ECVS Diplomates and residents only.  

This laboratory may be used as a continuing education activity for ACVS Diplomate Maintenance of Certification. Save a copy of the program schedule to submit with your ACVS Diplomate MOC Record.

Advanced laparoscopic and thoracoscopic procedures will be described in the lectures, followed by a hands-on laboratory using live dogs.  Simulators will be used to learn intracorporeal suturing techniques. Anesthesia related to minimally invasive surgery (one-lung ventilation) will be presented by a board-certified anesthesiologist. Procedures described and will include:

  • Laparoscopic Gastropexy
  • Adrenalectomy
  • Cholecystectomy
  • Nephrectomy
  • Splenectomy
  • Lung Lobectomy with One-Lung Ventilation
  • Pericardial Window or Subtotal Pericardectomy
  • Thoracic Duct Ligation

This laboratory is designed for participants with experience in minimally invasive surgery. The laboratory is limited in size to three people per animal. Technicians can attend lectures and observe in the laboratory.

Payment and Refund Information:

If Paying by Check:
Make checks payable to “American College of Veterinary Surgeons”, in U.S. funds and drawn on a U.S. bank. Checks must be received within 15 calendar days after online registration is submitted. Please mail checks to ACVS, 19785 Crystal Rock Dr, Suite 305, Germantown, MD 20874.

Partial refunds/changes are available for meeting and laboratory registration fees if cancelled by July 15. Please note, there will be a $75 administrative fee associated with registration change/cancellation.

After July 15, refunds will be made only in cases of extenuating circumstances (e.g., death in the family, medical emergency) and must be supported by written documentation. Allow 30 days for processing refund requests. 

Laboratory Cancellation Policy

ACVS reserves the right to cancel this laboratory if it does not meet minimum registrations by July 15. If the laboratory is cancelled by this date, registrants will be notified via email and only registration fees will be credited or refunded.
