ACVS Small Animal Minimally Invasive Surgery Courses - Basic and Advanced

BASIC COURSE (Course is FULL)

Laboratory fee: $2,100
ACVS and ECVS Diplomates and residents only.  

Laparoscopy and throacoscopy are minimally invasive approaches to the abdomen and the thoracic cavity for organ biopsy, diagnostic techniques, and surgical procedures. Recommended for Diplomates and residents with limited experience in minimally invasive surgery. Participants will perform laparoscopy and throacoscopy on anesthetized dogs and learn basic approaches and tissue manipulation. Procedures include:

  • Tissue biopsy (liver, pancreas, and kidney)
  • Basic laparoscopic-assisted techniques
  • Intestinal biopsy
  • Gastropexy
  • Ovariectomy or ovariohysterectomy
  • Thoracoscopy: exploration and biopsy
  • Pericardial window

Designed for participants with experience in minimally invasive surgery. Lectures will describe advanced minimally invasive procedures followed by a laboratory on live dogs. Anesthesia related to minimally invasive surgery (one-lung ventilation) will be presented by a board-certified anesthesiologist. Procedures described and performed will include:

  • Laparoscopic-assisted gastropexy
  • Laparoscopic-assisted cystoscopy
  • Adrenalectomy
  • Gallbladder resection
  • Partial lung lobectomy
  • Pericardial window
  • Thoracic duct ligation

Payment and Refund Information:

If Paying by Check:

Refunds/Changes:
Partial refunds/changes are available for meeting and laboratory registration fees if cancelled by July 15. Please note, there will be a $75 administrative fee associated with registration change/cancellation.

After July 15, refunds will be made only in cases of extenuating circumstances (e.g., death in the family, medical emergency) and must be supported by written documentation. Allow 30 days for processing refund requests.

Laboratory Cancellation Policy
ACVS reserves the right to cancel this laboratory if it does not meet minimum registrations by July 15. If the laboratory is cancelled by this date, registrants will be notified via email and only registration fees will be credited or refunded.
