Through the course of my career, I set a goal to hold mentoring as a sacred trust. If I could contribute in such a manner that the individual developed into a better surgeon than me, I knew I had been successful.

I was fortunate enough to be trained by Jock during my time at NCSU as a student and then again as a resident.  Jock taught me to think outside the box and how to improvise which has been invaluable to me during my career.  He always had my back but would not hold back when I needed it!  I was so fortunate to be trained by him and consider him a true friend and mentor.
