I was fortunate enough to be Rich's first mentee at NCSU. I realize how fortunate I was to have someone who taught me all he could about surgery but also about how to treat my clients.  So much of who I am today as a surgeon is due to what I learned from Rich. I was very fortunate to have such a great mentor.
