Mentoring residents is a difficult yet rewarding job.  I have contributed to the training of over 50 board certified surgeons and fondly remember each.  Some must be encouraged to be bolder, others reined in.  All have periods of strife.  Yet at the end of their three years, there is always pride.  I joke that I am the wind beneath their wings.  The truth is they are the wind beneath mine.

I am forever grateful for Karl allowing me the opportunity to train under his guidance. His pearls of wisdom that continue to circle through my head are utilized on a daily basis in my practice. Karl has been an invaluable teacher, a trusted colleague, and a good friend through it all. I am honored to call him a mentor.
