The joy and satisfaction I experienced while watching surgery residents grow personally and professionally is indescribable. I hope I succeeded in helping equip each of them with the skills and knowledge necessary to improve their level of patient care and ability to exercise good clinical judgment. I thank them sincerely for this honor. ‘Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a  life time’. (Navajo proverb)

Ron was always passionate, enthusiastic, well read and he instilled the same feelings in his residents. He was a tremendous influence on me as a budding surgeon as well as during my early years as a faculty member.  He remains a friend as well as a colleague to this day.  Ron is very deserving of being recognized as a mentor.
