{"id":17054,"date":"2026-01-28T08:16:20","date_gmt":"2026-01-28T13:16:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.acvs.org\/?p=17054"},"modified":"2026-01-28T08:24:54","modified_gmt":"2026-01-28T13:24:54","slug":"strategic-plan-efforts-continue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.acvs.org\/es\/news\/strategic-plan-efforts-continue\/","title":{"rendered":"Strategic plan efforts continue to update training and certification"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The College continues to make progress toward updating training and certification as part of the 2022\u20132027 ACVS Strategic Plan.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>The Board of Regents (BOR) has accepted a proposal to develop a new examination structure that will combine the Phase II practical and case-based sections into one examination. A working group was recently formed to fully develop that structure. Given the preparation time required for an examination, the target of implementation for the new format would be 2028.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>A separate group was recently formed to investigate a different method to deliver a computer-based Phase II examination. Pending a successful evaluation, the group will submit a proposal to the Board of Regents later this year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>The Competency Development Working Group has developed a new semi-annual review form for resident training that incorporates domains of the AAVMC Competency-Based Veterinary Education (CBVE\u00ae) Competency Framework and Milestones for Specialties. This new assessment method is being piloted in several programs. The working group will collect feedback, make any necessary changes, and submit a proposal to the BOR later this year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>The Resident Well-being Working Group is using the data from previous surveys to develop a resource page that will provide content to assist surgery residents throughout their programs.
