As part of the 2022\u20132027 ACVS strategic plan, multiple working groups were established to move forward some of the identified objectives. Two of those working groups have concluded their work, one is nearing completion, and one is continuing. The Board of Regents (BOR) has approved several initiatives to implement their recommendations.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Working Group to Consider Program Assessments identified multiple critical factors that can be used to allow registered residency training programs to evaluate their ability to successfully train veterinary surgery residents to become Diplomates. The next step is to develop a method to present this information in a meaningful and efficient way to assist the programs and the residents.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Through developed and administered surveys, the <\/span>Resident Well-being Working Group <\/span>prioritized several categories that are most meaningful to our residents and created suggestions to address these areas. We will continue to investigate these suggestions, which include more resources for residents and a resident council.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>Working Group to Reassess the Examination Process<\/span> provided recommendations to enhance the ability of the Examination Committee to create content more efficiently without compromising the rigor of the examination. Implementing these changes will be a priority over the next several years.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>Competency Development Working Group<\/span> continues to work on a plan to create and implement competencies into residency training.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

ACVS is grateful for the work these Diplomates have contributed to assist the College in the continuing development of surgeons of the future.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
