8:00am Principles of Intraoral Radiograph Interpretation ~DeBowes, Dupont
This lecture will discuss radiograph interpretation and use examples of radiographs of normal and abnormal dental and oral structures.
9:00am Oral Pathology ~Niemiec
9:45am Marginal Mandibulectomy for Oral Tumor Excision ~DeBowes
A surgical procedure for excising mandibular tumors while preserving the ventral mandibular cortex and neurovascular bundle will be described.
10:30am Anticipating and Managing a Difficult Extraction ~Verstraete This presentation will focus on anticipating why a dental extraction is likely to be difficult and on planning how to manage this.
11:30am Odontogenic Cysts ~Verstraete
The classification of odontogenic cysts will be reviewed and the cases seen at UC Davis (1995-2010) will be discussed, including treatment recommendations.
2:00pm Practical Regional Anesthesia for Oral Surgery ~Lantz
These techniques are readily performed. Specific regional nerve blocks, local anatomy and materials and methods will be covered.
2:45pm Surgical Management of Feline Resorption -- Stomatitis ~Dupont
This lecture will discus the best surgical treatment for tooth resorption and caudal stomatitis in cats.
4:00pm Periodontal Disease and Pathologic Fractures ~Niemiec
4:45pm Closure of Acquired Oronasal Fistulae ~Lantz
Surgical principles will be discussed using case examples to present techniques for fistulae closure and promotion of subsequent healing.

This lecture will cover exposing high quality dental radiographs in the dog and cat. Digital system usages will also be covered.
2:00pm Oral Pathology & Exam ~Niemiec
This lecture will cover the most common pathology in the dog and cat. This includes fractured teeth, resporptive lesions, missing teeth, oral neoplasia and periodontal disease.
2:45pm Professional Liability and the Surgery Technician ~Zeltzman
A good technician-surgeon team can avoid many touchy situations where liability or malpractice may be involved. In this interactive presentation, we will review 20 common situations where technicians can help ensure a happy ending for the patient.
