A review of evidence-based decision making in airway surgery using case examples.

11:00am  Suture Placement for Laryngoplasty: A Review ~Santschi
Most prostheses are believed to fail due to the suture pulling through the cartilage, so strategies to robustly anchor the suture in the laryngeal cartilage will be discussed.

11:30am  abs: Clamp Arytenoid Abduction in Laryngoplasty ~McClellan

11:45am  abs: Development of an Equine Laryngeal Neurostimulator ~Mespoulhès-Rivière

 2:00pm  Dynamic Overground Endoscopy of the Airway ~Pollock
Dynamic overground endoscopy allows examination of the equine upper airway during normal ridden exercise and is perhaps the most exciting development in furthering understanding of upper airway disease in recent times.

This lecture will outline general anatomy, clinical signs and investigation of equine sinus disorder and will then focus on the treatment of rostral maxillary and ventral conchal sinusitis.

Review of the balloon sinuplasty technique and its uses in horses with primary and secondary sinusitis: Update on the use of the technique in several clinical cases to date

 5:00pm  Treatment of Dental-Related Sinusitis ~Dixon
This lecture will focus on the diagnosis and treatment of dental related sinusitis including apical infection of the caudal cheek teeth, dental fractures and spontaneous oro-maxillary fistula.

 5:30pm  Use of CT for Preoperative Planning for Sinus Disease ~Garcia-Lopez
This lecture will discuss the use of Computed Tomography (CT) as part of the pre-operative diagnostics in horses with sinus disease.

Discussion of navicular bursa injection techniques, both old and new, and efficacy of treatment when a diagnosis is known by using high field MRI
