ACVS Residency Program Guidelines 2007-2008 (PDF format) - All residents beginning programs between July 1, 2007 and June 30, 2008 must follow these requirements. This PDF document contains the following information:

Requirements Changes in 2007:

  • All residency documentation and review will now be conducted online using the web-based Resident Training Log. An overview of the program and review process can be found on pages 13-14 of the Residency Program Guidelines.
  • All communication regarding the web-based system will be through e-mail. Residents, Resident Advisors and Program Directors must all provide individual e-mail addresses to the ACVS office on Forms 1a and 1b.
  • The roles of the Resident Advisor and Program Director as part of the documentation review have changed with the new system. Information can be found in the guidelines on pages 11-14.
    • The Resident Advisor must verify all documentation online; this includes verifying each case, week and seminar.
    • The Resident Advisor must complete a Semi-Annual Review online to reflect the results of the in-person performance evaluation conducted with the resident. The review documents resident attendance at rounds, status of progress in program (satisfactory, minimally acceptable or unacceptable) and whether the resident is continuing in the program.
    • The Program Director must approve the Semi-Annual Review as submitted by the Resident Advisor.
  • Training will not be reviewed by the Resident Credentialing Committee until verification of training and completion and approval of the Semi-Annual Review occurs.
  • Residents can import a limited amount of data for each surgical case to the case log (case date, case number and diagnosis).  In order to do so, you must use the ACVS Case Log template (Excel file).  Login  to the Resident Training Log and click on the Import Cases link from the summary page.
