Salary: Professor Level E: AUD$155,649 p.a. or Associate Professor Level D: AUD$120,836 - AUD$133,124 p.a. plus 17% superannuation. Level of appointment is subject to qualifications and experience.
The University of Melbourne seeks an enthusiastic, motivated, people focused specialist in Small Animal Surgery to join the Faculty of Veterinary Science to lead the dynamic surgery team at the Faculty's veterinary teaching hospital as Professor or Associate Professor of Small Animal Surgery. The Veterinary Hospital is located at the Veterinary Clinical Centre in Werribee.
The Veterinary Hospital is well equipped, with state of the art facilities, such as our recently renovated theatre suite that is compliant with human theatre standards, and also has the most advanced clinical veterinary imaging facility in Australia. The hospital runs a busy, vibrant primary care clinic and also offers specialist veterinary services in small animal medicine, surgery, anaesthesia, neurology, diagnostic imaging, clinical pathology, clinical pharmacology, emergency & critical care and equine medicine and surgery.
The successful applicant will lead our small animal surgery team and will be responsible for clinical operation of the small animal surgery service, the clinical and didactic training of veterinary students and supervision of residents and staff within the section. We are seeking a dedicated team player, who can help manage and build our small animal surgery caseload as well as a willingness and capacity to teach undergraduate and graduate students, including residents, in all areas of veterinary small animal surgery.
The position may be that of a Teaching Specialist, with primary duties of clinical service and provision of teaching, or a Teaching and Research position, with responsibilities for teaching, research and clinical service.
The Professor or Associate Professor of Small Animal Surgery may also play an active and important senior role in the management and future of the Faculty of Veterinary Science and the University.
