FACULTY POSITION IN LARGE ANIMAL SURGERY, CLINICIAN EDUCATOR TRACK. The Department of Clinical Studies at New Bolton Center, part of the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Large Animal Surgery in the Clinician Educator (non-tenure) Track. The ideal candidate will have a VMD, DVM or equivalent degree with extensive experience in equine surgery, particularly orthopedic surgery. Individuals with credentials accepted by ACVS or ECVS is also a requisite. In addition, advanced research training, either through a degree program or experience performing bench or clinical research is desirable. The clinical service responsibilities for this position focus on examination and treatment of all large animal species, with an emphasis on the horse. Participation in the emergency service within the Widener Hospital will be required, and experience in emergency surgery is essential. As a member of New Bolton Center’s faculty, this position demands extensive participation in the surgery teaching program for veterinary students and house officers, as well as involvement in continuing education programs. The successful candidate will, therefore, have strong interpersonal, teaching and communication skills. Participation in the scholarly activity of the Department is also expected, and preference is given to candidates with a strong research interest in biomechanics, horse-racetrack interface, and comparative orthopedics using the equine model.
