Call for Committee Members and Volunteers
Please complete this form if you are interested in serving on any of the standing committees for 2009-2010. If you have submitted a request in the past, you must submit a new request in order to affirm your continued interest in serving. You are encouraged to contact the appropriate committee chair to learn more about the work of a specific committee. Additionally, committee protocols (except for the Examination Committee due to security reasons) with more detailed information can be obtained from the ACVS office. A list of current committee chairs follows. The time commitments for the committees can vary greatly, and some committee work includes travel. There are a limited number of openings each year (approximately 30-35). As the membership grows (currently 1,350), the Board of Regents encourages you to consider carefully your ability to fulfill the responsibilities of the committees for which you may volunteer. Likewise, because the opportunities for positions on the standing committees are limited, please consider becoming active in other areas of the College, such as writing health condition articles for the animal owners section of the website, submitting articles for the ACVS Foundation’s DISCOVERY Newsletter, speaking in the Symposium and submitting abstracts for the scientific meeting.
Most committee selections are made at the Board of Regents’ meeting held in conjunction with the annual Veterinary Symposium. If you have a special interest and expertise that would be valuable to a given committee, please let a Board member know, as well as submit this form to the ACVS office. Please do not submit a C.V. — summarize your relevant experience in the area below. Volunteer information must be received before April 18, 2009. Questions regarding the Call for Committee Members can be sent to cmichael@acvs.org.
